On 12-14 July, the International Co-operative Alliance will co-host a free conference in Milan, Italy during Expo 2015 on the theme 'Co-operatives: Empowering people for sustainable development and zero hunger'.

The three-day conference will provide a platform for co-operative representatives to network and exchange views on key issues, such as ending hunger, supporting rural communities, environmental sustainability, food waste, supply chain security and trade agreements.

Participants will also have the opportunity to explore Expo 2015, which will showcase innovations from more than 140 countries on "Feeding the planet, energy for life" and feature a Future Supermarket designed by Coop Italy.

In addition to co-operators, experts from national governments, academic institutions and the United Nations will present across the five planned round-tables.
The Alliance is co-organising the event with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Confcooperative (Italy), JA-Zenchu (Japan), Consumer Co-operatives Worldwide (CCW) and the International Co-operative Agricultural Organisation (ICAO).
