The ICA welcomed a new member in December: Kalandia Camp Women's Handicraft Cooperative (KCWHC) from Palestine.
KCWHC, one of Palestine’s first cooperatives, provides aid and support for Palestinians in the Kalandia refugee camp, as well as neighbouring camps, remote villages in the middle of Palestine and part of Gaza Strip, with the aim of improving the social and economic situation of these families.
It is also the second registered cooperatives in Palestine to be owned by women, and aims to raise the cultural, social, educational and economic standards of women in refugee camps, villages and cities, through services and training.
With 17 employees, 57 members and a revenue of USD 228,914, KCWHC’s activities range from health and education services to food and textile production.
KCWHC joined the ICA as a full member to expand its reach, connect with other co-ops and to be motivated by the wider cooperative movement.
It is estimated that the ICA will close 2025 with 321 members, the highest number of members since 1994 (as far back as we have reliable electronic records). The ICA has members from 106 countries.
