In our latest newsletter celebrating the International Year of Cooperatives, we explore how cooperatives are building a better world by conserving and protecting the environment.
Read the newsletter to learn more about a new policy brief published by the Committee for the Promotion and Advancement of Cooperatives (COPAC) and the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), which explores how cooperatives are contributing to SDG 14 (Life Below Water) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
This month’s newsletter also features case studies of cooperatives demonstrating how participatory structures ensure stewardship is both equitable and rooted in local knowledge. It also includes an interview with Fabíola da Silva Nader Motta, General Manager of the Organization of Brazilian Cooperatives, about how the organisation plans to get cooperatives on the COP30 agenda.
Last month, cooperatives secured a big win - a political declaration at the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4) includes explicit recognition of cooperatives and the broader social and solidarity economy as key actors in sustainable development. Read more about the event in the newsletter.
The newsletter also explores a recent report by the International Cooperative Entrepreneurship Think Tank (ICETT), which highlights member benefits.
We also look back at the recent Festival of Cooperatives held in July in Rochdale and Manchester. Over 400 delegates attended the events, which included the ICA General Assembly, sectoral and thematic committee meetings, and the UK Co-op Congress.
For all this, as well as the latest reports on the ICA 2024 results, the 2024 Global Conference in New Delhi, India, and Coopathon, check out the newsletter, available in:
