Every first Saturday of July, the international community celebrates the International Day of Cooperatives.
On 6 July 2019, cooperatives from all around the world showed what makes them special under the slogan COOPS 4 DECENT WORK, shouting out the message that cooperatives are people-centred enterprises, characterised by democratic control, that prioritise human development and social justice within the workplace.
The theme is chosen to support the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8 ‘Inclusive development and decent work’. We are thrilled by the rich diversity of celebrations and support messages. Re-live and find a selection we have done for you including Pope Francis, UN Deputy Director Amina J Mohammed, ILO DG Guy Ryder, international agencies and much more

About the International Day of Cooperatives
The International Day of Cooperatives is an annual celebration of the cooperative movement which happens on the first Saturday of July since 1923 by the International Cooperative Alliance. Since 1995, together with the United Nations, we have been setting the theme for the celebration of #CoopsDay through the Committee for the Promotion and Advancement of Cooperatives (COPAC), a multi-stakeholder partnership of global public and private institutions that champions and supports people-centred and self-sustaining cooperative enterprises as leaders in sustainable development. The International Cooperative Alliance is a founding member.
The 2020 edition will be the 26th United Nations International Day of Cooperatives and the 98th International Cooperative day.
