Fans' Weekend

Supporters Direct (SD) will team up with The Football Supporters’ Federation (FSF) this summer to bring all football supporters together at one big event - The FSF and SD Fans’ Weekend (on twitter: #fansweekend). The Saturday event will include a number of workshops and debates, as well as a keynote speech from author and journalist Gabriele Marcotti After the keynote speech there will be a number of workshops throughout the afternoon, with topics up for discussion including the Elite Player Performance Plan, Supporter Liaison Officers, Football Governance, Community Stadia and Community Shares, as well a session on anti-racism run by Kick It Out and Show Racism the Red Card, and a football tactics workshop led by The Guardian’s tactical guru and editor of The Blizzard, Jonathan Wilson. The afternoon will be rounded off by a debate (the full panel to be confirmed). The Saturday evening event (the FSF’s Football Writers Awards) was launched to great acclaim last year, will see the return of our comedy panel show, which will again feature MOTD2’s Kevin Day and The Guardian Football Weekly’s Barry Glendenning, along with newcomers such as The Football League Show’s Leroy Rosenior and BBC pundit and former Arsenal player Perry Groves. The best of both professional and fan journalism will be honoured. On Sunday July 8th the SD Shield will be competed for between Fisher FC and FC Lewes, while the SD Cup will see Enfield Town FC go up against a Wrexham XI, with both matches being played at Enfield Town’s Queen Elizabeth Stadium. If either game ends in a draw, the result is decided by a fans’ penalty shoot-out. Tickets will be available on the day from Enfield Town FC (price TBC).
