Blueprint on the agenda at ICA's Global Conference and General Assembly

30 Jul 2013

Delegates at the International Co-operative Alliance’s Global Conference and General Assembly will be among the first to hear in-depth thoughts on the Blueprint for a Co-operative Decade.

The Blueprint will form the main part of the agenda of the four-day event in Cape Town, South Africa, from 1-5 November. All parts of the document will be featured in the main thematic sessions of the conference, with speakers from across the co-operative world providing the latest insight.

Workshops will deal with key issues related to the Blueprint under the areas of food security; access to community services; communication; the new economic age; and building knowledge.

The main goal of the Blueprint is to ensure co-operatives take the position of being the preferred model and as a result the fastest-growing form of enterprise by 2020.

As well as individual bookings, group bookings are now live, which will allow those organisations booking more than ten full fee places to have the registration fee waived for the eleventh delegate. See the fees here.

A plenary session on sustainability and capital will deliver a thought-leadership paper and a look at how co-operatives perform in those chosen areas. The World Co-operative Monitor will also be unveiled, providing the latest statistics from co-operatives of all sizes.

Keynote speakers are set to include government ministers, while a special panel of African ministers will look at the future of the continent. Following the closure of the conference, a one-day conference will take place between Africa’s co-operative ministers.

A special Big Debate panel will close the conference with a broad-ranging discussion and reflection between key speakers on the main themes and points that have come out of the conference.
