Call for Papers for the ICA Global Research Conference

The ICA Global Research Conference will bring together academics and industry experts in the three-day CoopCy conference focused on how the financial crisis has affected the co-operative sector.

The conference, 'Co-operatives during crisis and post-crisis period', which is set to be hosted at the European University of Cyprus, will try to assess the management of co-operatives during crisis and will also examine government policy-making regarding co-ops.

Practitioners, researchers, policy makers and universities are invited to join an international audience and also engage in a discussion on co-operative performance during the financial crisis, and can make reference to any period or any circumstances, national or international level. Participants can also explore the role of co-ops in overcoming the financial crisis and strategies on how to operate successfully after the crisis is over.

They are also invited to submit papers that examine, but are not necessarily limited to: co-operative banking, rural co-operatives, mergers in the co-operative sector, social entrepreneurship, management of co-operatives, co-operatives and the financial crisis, economic history of co-operatives and social capital and sustainability within co-operatives.

Abstracts can be sent to coopcy@euc.ac.cy by 15 January and decisions on acceptance will be provided no later than 25 February 2013. Papers can then be submitted by 1 April.

The accepted papers may be published in conference proceedings or made available to participants in suitable form. Some papers may also get published in journals such as RECMA, Review of International Cooperation, Journal of Rural Cooperation, REVESCO and other similar academic sources.

Early Bird Registration for €250 is open until 15 April, but late registration will be accepted after this date for a fee of €300. PhD students will only pay €100. The cost includes the conference, buffet lunches and coffee breaks and the Conference Gala Dinner.

Organised by the European University of Cyprus, the ICA Global Research Conference, will take place between 12 and 15 June in Nicosia, Cyprus. The official programme and a list with keynote speakers will be announced at a later stage.
