Children’s drawing contest promotes co-operatives in Bulgaria

27 Jun 2016

Every year Bulgaria celebrates the International Children’s Day on 1 June. To mark the day the country’s Central Cooperative Union organises various events, thematic competitions, fun games and entertaining activities, to boost the interest of children and their parents in the co-operative model and the role of the co-operative in their daily life.

After 2012 – the International Year of Cooperatives, CCU-Bulgaria organised for a second time the National Children’s Art Contest: Let’s Build a Better World Now. The aim was to promote the global co-operative marque, written in Cyrillic, and to stimulate children’s imagination by asking what the “COOP” meant to them. Four hundred and eighty-one children from all regions of Bulgaria participated with 487 drawings, which are available in the online gallery on the CCU website www.ccu-bg.coop and CCU Facebook page:

Fifty drawings were selected by a jury in the final of the contest and were included in an exhibition on the occasion of the CCU General Assembly, held in May 2016. They were also displayed during another event at the supermarket “COOP” in Sofia, Bulgaria, on the occasion of 1 June – International Children's Day.

The winners received honorary certificates, vouchers for shopping in COOP stores and holidays in COOP hotel complexes in Bulgaria.
