Co-operatives have until the end of July to enter the dotCoop Global Awards for Co-operative Excellence.

Awarded every two years, the accolades have been created to acknowledge the efforts of co-operatives from across the world to promote co-operative values and principles. Past winners and those recognised for honourable mentions have come from all continents.

This year the awards will also seek to recognise the great contribution of some co-operatives to promoting the International Year of Co-operatives and a Co-operative Decade.

The winning entries in each category will be invited to attend the awards ceremony, taking place at ICA’s Global Conference and General Assembly in Cape Town. They will also receive USD 2,000 to help them travel to the event

The awards are designed to enable co-ops of all sizes to have the opportunity to win. Moreover, the organisers have developed a new entry form to make the entry process easier by encouraging entrants to keep responses brief.

Referring to the awards, Carolyn Hoover, the CEO of dotCoop, said: “Global Award winners in 2011 came from all over the world and from a variety of sectors. We had some great feedback from the judges and entrants in 2011 and have worked on streamlining the entry process for everyone.”

Organisers are also seeking sponsors for the awards. They will be recognised at the ICA General Assembly and associated with the awards until 2015.

Entries can be submitted via the dotCoop Global Awards site www.globalawards.coop. The deadline for entries is 31 July. For more information contact support@nic.coop with any questions or follow @dotCoopAwards.
