Delegates attending the Global Conference and General Assembly in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, can get a taste of the local culture through various tour packages.
A multicultural land, Malaysia has Malay, Chinese, Indian, Eurasian and indigenous traditions.
The host of this year’s Global Conference and General Assembly, ANGKASA has put together a schedule with four tours to choose from for delegate and their family members.
Also known as the “Garden City of Lights”, Kuala Lumpur features colonial buildings which stand in stark contrast to the gleaming skyscrapers. The KL City Tour will unveil the beauty and charm of the old and new city, including the famous Petronas Twin Tower, the National Museum, the National Monument, King’s Palace, the National Mosque and Sultan Abdul Samad Building.
Another tourist attraction is the KL Forest Eco Park, which can be explored during the KL City Eco Tour. The park is the only remaining stretch of tropical rainforest within the city and has an impressive 200m-canopy walkway.
Delegates wishing to see the Petronas Twin Towers and Kuala Lumpur Tower and skip queues can join the KLCC & Twin Tower Tour. The tallest superstructure of their kind, the Petronas Twin Towers are often regarded as Malaysia’s crown jewels. This tour also features visits to Aquaria, a watery wonderland right in the middle of Kuala Lumpur and the Kuala Lumpur Tower, a 420m communications tower.
To admire Malaysia’s modern Arabic architecture, conference attendees can join the Putrajaya Tour, which takes them to Malaysia's new federal administrative centre. Here they can visit the 14-hectre Taman Warisan, an agricultural heritage park showing varieties of fruits trees and plants. Other attractions include the Putra Mosque constructed with rose-tinted granite and the 435 metres three-deck Putra Bridge.
Those up for a longer tour can sign up for a visit to Malacca, a Malaysian state on the Malay Peninsula's southwest coast. Here they can see St. Peter’s Church (1710) - the oldest Christian Church still in use in Malaysia and Chinese Hill - the largest Chinese cemetery outside of China. Also on the list is ‘Red Square’ - the salmon pink Dutch administrative buildings which today houses the Malacca Museum and government offices.
All tours can be booked on a first come first serve basis from 13 to 17 November. Delegates can register at the tour counter located at foyer level 12 of Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa. More information on the tour packages here.
