The International Co-operative Alliance is pleased to welcome the Cooperatives Union of Kyrgyzstan and Civil Servants Co-op Ltd (ME-KOOP LTD) from Cyprus as members.
The largest co-operative association in the country, the Cooperatives Union of Kyrgyzstan brings together more than 240 agricultural commodity service co-operatives. They focus on representing the interests of co-operatives and engaging with state institutions as well as elaborating proposals for public policies supporting co-operatives. The union works to create a stable and sustainable co-operative system in Kyrgyzstan.
Based in Cyprus, the Civil Servants Co-op provides financial services to over 1,000 current and retired employees of ten different public service organisations. They offer loans and saving accounts as well as other services, operating to benefit their members rather than maximise profits.
With the latest additions, the Alliance has now 306 member organisations, of which 261 are full members and 45 associate. Kyrgyzstan is a new member country, with 106 countries being represented in total.
