Monique Leroux to co-chair B7 Business Summit

Monique Leroux, the former President of the International Co-operative Alliance, has been announced as co-chair of the B7 Business Summit Host Committee.

Ms Leroux, who is currently Chair of the Board of Investissement Québec and the Quebec Economic and Innovation Council, will be joining Dawn Farrell, President and CEO of TransAlta Corporation and Director of the Business Council of Canada in chairing the meeting.

The Business 7 Summit is the business side of the G7 process, representing the business world of the G7 countries. At the meeting B7 leaders identify global economic business priorities, which are then put forward to G7 leaders as a series of recommendations. This year the summit is hosted by the Canadian Chamber and takes place in Quebec City on 5-6 April 2018. Key topics include resource efficiency, inclusive growth, and scaling up small business.

“We are thrilled that two senior, experienced business leaders like Ms Leroux and Ms Farrell have accepted this important role,” said Perrin Beatty, President and CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, and Chair of the B7 Business Summit Host Committee.

Ms Leroux said: “Business plays a vital role in creating economic growth and prosperity around the world, and I am honoured to work with Canadian and international business leaders in driving the dialogue for this year’s B7. Our discussions will provide concrete recommendations for the G7 leaders to consider when they meet in Charlevoix in June.”

Ms Leroux presided over the Alliance from November 2015 to November 2017. Prior to this she was Ms Leroux is chair of the board and chief executive of Desjardins Group, a Canadian federation of 376 credit unions.
