8 Jul 2019 - At a time when income inequality is rising around the world, it is good to be reminded that solutions to inequality do exist. The co-operative model is foremost among these solutions, since it contains aspects of sustainable development at its core and is based on ethical values and principles. The aim of this celebration is to increase awareness of cooperatives.

The micro-finance cooperative Bhabishya Nirman Sana Kishan was created in the Dakshinkali municipality (Nepal) to revert a situation of abuse by big landlords of the region, who were offering loans to small farmers at a very high interest rate. The cooperative is also giving women and youth the opportunity to build their own future in a decent and sustainable way.
