The Cooperative Model: The Role of Digital Labour Platforms in Transforming the World of Work

The International Cooperative Alliance, within the framework of ICA-EU partnership (#coops4dev) held an online session of the capacity building and knowledge sharing in Coop Academy with the theme 'The Role of Digital Labour Platforms in Transforming the World of Work'. The session took place on 5 March 2021 and was led by Uma Rani, a senior economist at ILO.

The discussion focused on the opportunities and challenges for workers in developing countries on digital labour platforms based on a survey of 12000 workers around the world. Participants also engaged in a discussion about the challenges of the digital labour platforms, the business models of digital labour platforms, and how the role of cooperatives platforms can play in improving the working conditions.

What is Coop Academy?

Coop Academy is an International Cooperative Alliance - European Union Framework Partnership Agreement (#coops4dev?) capacity building and sharing knowledge initiative that aims at offering participants from all over the world the possibility to attend different training sessions. Through the different online training sessions participants will have the opportunity to develop and strengthen their skills, knowledge while improving their processes, and resources on different topics.
