Samuel David Mancilla Giraldo

Samuel David Mancilla Giraldo is a 20 year old Law student from Apartadó, Colombia. He is currently in his seventh semester at the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia. For the past two years, he has been an active member of the ES+JUSTO research seedbed. During this time, he has participated in several research internships that have provided him with practical experience in legal and social research. These experiences have allowed him to develop analytical thinking, critical reasoning, and teamwork skills.

Through his work in the seedbed, Samuel has been directly involved in efforts to promote social justice and cooperative development. With the support of INDESCO, the seedbed is currently working on the formation of a pre-cooperative of work, an initiative that has deepened his understanding of the cooperative model and its potential for social transformation.

Samuel is passionate about the cooperative movement and is eager to contribute his energy, legal knowledge, and commitment to youth participation at the international level. He believes that young people have a vital role to play in shaping the future of cooperatives and in advancing the principles of solidarity, equity, and democracy. He is motivated to bring the perspective of Colombian youth and the Latin American cooperative experience to the ICA Youth Committee.

Through his academic training and practical involvement in cooperative development, Samuel is prepared to support the work of the ICA Youth Committee and to help implement its next four year work plan. He is committed to learning from cooperative leaders around the world and to contributing his skills to strengthen youth participation in the global cooperative movement.

Samuel is excited about the opportunity to represent the Americas region as a Member at Large and to collaborate with other young cooperators in building a more just and sustainable world.
