The International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) will take part in the 64th session of the United Nations Commission for Social Development (CSocD64), to be held at the UN Headquarters in New York from 2 to 10 February 2026.
On 5 February 2026, ICA Director General Jeroen Douglas will serve as moderator of the Multi-stakeholder Forum entitled “Partnerships that deliver: How to scale-up good practices at the local level to end poverty, create jobs and build inclusive societies”. This participation will build on the momentum created by the UN International Year of Cooperatives 2025 and the outcomes of the Second World Summit for Social Development held in Doha in November 2025, where the Political Declaration explicitly recognized cooperatives and Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) actors as key contributors to decent work, inclusive finance, social protection, sustainable value chains, and community empowerment.
The Forum is organised in the context of the Commission’s priority theme: “Advancing Social Development and Social Justice through Coordinated, Equitable, and Inclusive Policies”, and will focus on the essential role of partnerships in accelerating social development outcomes at all levels.
The discussion will highlight scalable, evidence-based practices and explore how collaboration among governments, civil society, the private sector, cooperatives and other SSE actors can reduce poverty, create jobs and build more inclusive societies.
