ICA reaction on the interim order of the Constitutional Court of Ecuador in relation to the validity of the Organic Law on Public Integrity

12 Aug 2025

The International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), through its Cooperative Law Committee, endorsed the statement issued by Cooperatives of the Americas welcoming the interim decision issued on August 4, 2025, regarding the validity of the Organic Law on Public Integrity (LOIP), published on June 26, 2025.

Following the unanimous decision of its Board of Directors, the ICA, through its Cooperative Law Committee, issued a statement expressing its disagreement with the 11th Transitional Provision of the LOIP. This provision required a new Financial and Monetary Policy and Regulation Council to adopt, within 90 days of its appointment, regulations to identify savings and credit cooperatives that should be "converted into private financial sector companies."
