21 Jan 2017

The new edition of the Alliance’s eDigest is out. In our September issue we hear from President Monique F. Leroux, who looks at her two years term.

With only two months until the Global Conference and General Assembly in Kuala Lumpur, the newsletter gives an insight into the Malaysian co-operative movement. An interview with co-hosts ANGKASA provides participants a sneak peak of what awaits them at the biggest co-operative event of the year. More information on the conference and how to register is available here.

Also featured in this issue is the Alliance’s report Co-ops for 2030, which shows how co-operatives can contribute to the United Nations’ agenda for sustainable development. The role of co-ops in development was also explored in two back-to-back workshops at the Co-operative University of Kenya within the framework of the ICA-EU #coops4dev partnership.

The issue also touches upon the latest in terms of co-operative research. The eDigest features an article on research released by the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security(GIWPS) details the impact of women’s co-operatives in Jakarta, Indonesia. Researchers can also look forward to the Review of International Co-operation, which will focus on co-op research in Latin America. More on this here.

In other news, in the USA, co-ops will be included in the 2017 census and in Europe three young will be going to Paris after winning Coops Europe’s #MyCoopStory.
