Creando Conciencia is a worker cooperative founded in 2005 in Argentina that recycles waste and transforms it into street furniture. Created as a response to the 2001 economic and financial crisis, cooperative members proved that it is possible to develop a successful business by including people excluded by the system and taking care of the environment. These two dimensions - social inclusion and environmental sustainability - are the core pillars of Creando Conciencia. Being a cooperative, workers democratically participate in the decision-making and good working conditions are guaranteed. Creando Conciencia proves that it is possible to achieve economic, social en environmental sustainability at local level.
