On June 25 and 26, 2013, the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) is convening the 16th Indian Cooperative Congress in New Delhi. The theme is “Cooperative enterprises build a better world.” The objective of the Congress is to discuss various trends in the cooperative movement and chalk out future strategic policy directions for India's cooperative movement. Held every 3 years, the Indian Cooperative Congress is the highest forum of India's cooperative movement. It is attended by as many as 1,500 delegates representing various segments of Indian cooperative sectors, international organizations like the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Government of India, provincial governments, para-statal organizations involved in cooperative development, and fraternal delegates. The Hon’ble President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, will inaugurate the congress on June 25, while the Hon'ble Union Minister for Agriculture, Shri Sharad Pawar, will deliver the presidential address.
