Law & Cooperatives - Friend or foe? Exploring the legal landscape about cooperatives, for cooperatives, and against cooperatives

Law & Co-operatives

The webinar began with a showcase of experiences from participants of the Cooperative Law Summer School held in Pula, Croatia, in 2023. This international group shared their reflections on working intensively for 10 days in a multicultural environment under the guidance of celebrated cooperative legal expert Dr. Hagen Henry, supported by Dr. Sonja Novkovic, Mr. Santosh Kumar, and Dr. Ifigeneia Douvitsa. Participants highlighted critical insights from their learning and described how they applied this knowledge in various roles intersecting with cooperative law, offering new perspectives, collaborations, and paths forward.

Following these reflections and vignettes, additional speakers from academia and the global cooperative sector explored the intersection of cooperation and law.

The event aimed to inspire and equip attendees with actionable insights and encourage participation in the 2025 Summer School. It provided a platform for students, alumni, legal professionals, cooperative practitioners, and advocates to gain inspiration and reflect on cooperative law's evolving role.

The webinar was organised collectively by the International Cooperative Alliance, IUS Cooperativum, and the International Centre for Cooperative Management at Saint Mary’s University.
