Celebrating the International Year of Cooperatives in Mozambique

Mozambican Association for the Promotion of Modern Cooperatives and NCBA's CLUSA Intern
Mozambique

On March 28, 2012 the Mozambican Association for the Promotion of Modern Cooperatives and the National Cooperative Business Association's CLUSA International program, will host an International Year of Cooperatives kick-off event at the Joaquim Chissano International Conference Centre in Maputo. The event celebrates not only the International Year of Cooperatives but also the new co-op law in Mozambique and the potential for the cooperative business model to be a vehicle for economic development and true social change for the country. The association expects approximately 35 participants to attend, representing local cooperatives, the private sector and the government. President of the Republic of Mozambique, Mr. Armando Guebuza, is an invited guest. This event in Mozambique is evidence that the cooperative movement is continuing to build momentum through the collaboration of NCBA and from the support of USAID’s Cooperative Development Program. For more information about AMPCM or the USAID-funded Cooperative Development Program, please contact NCBA Program Manager, Samantha Watson, swatson@ncba.coop.
