Evening Lecture: Co-operation and Peace – 75 years on

6.30-8.00pm How did the co-operative movement in London tackle the challenge of its commitment to peace in the face of the rise of fascism in Europe? This session will explore the conflict between those who took a pacifists view as a response to the horrors of the First World War, and those who saw a need to stop the rise of fascism in Europe. During the lecture Mervyn Wilson will show the films 'Peace Parade' 1937 and 'Advance Democracy' 1938 from the National Co-operative Archive which illustrate these different viewpoints. Mervyn Wilson is the Chief Executive and Principal of the Co-operative College and a member of the Advisory Board of the Co-operative Institute for Peace and Social Cohesion.
